Recent data emphasises the importance of person-to-person transmission of drug-resistant TB worldwide. In KwaZulu-Natal up to 83% of XDR-TB cases are genotypically-clustered. In the present study, patients diagnosed with XDR-TB in KwaZulu-Natal from 2010–2014 were interviewed about their social networks and hospitalisations.
